Heart Problem and Chronic Kidney Disease Heart problem is a leading cause of death which is a common experience in patients with CKD. Many factors makes the patients with CKD at risk to develop heart problem. The factors may include severe kidney damage, high blood pressure and diabetes, aged over 60, cigarette smoking etc.

What is Heart Problem?

Heart problem, also known as cardiovascular disease refers to the conditions which affect the heart and blood vessels. Heart problem will cause heart function decline and blood vessels, which may result in insufficient oxygen supply patient’s organs. This may cause severe damage to your health or even cause death.

The common heart problem in patients with CKD may include coronary artery disease, heart attack, heart failure, atherosclerosis etc.

How Are Chronic Kidney Disease and Heart Problem Connected?

Heart problem and Chronic Kidney Disease are closely associated, because kidney damage may cause Christian imbalances in the body, which may affect the blood vessels and the heart over time. Some other additional common factors in CKD also increase the risk to develop heart problem.

- high blood pressure. Kidneys help regulate the blood pressure, for it produces a kind of hormone named “renin”. Kidney damages causes blood pressure elevated.

- Stiff arteries – kidneys make a hormone that helps to regulate the use of calcium throughout the body. A person with chronic kidney disease may develop calcified (stiffened) arteries and heart valves, perhaps caused by hormones not being produced efficiently.

- Blood Clots. Blood clots are prone to happen in patients with CKD, which may increase the risk to insufficient blood supply. As a result, heart attack and stroke may occur.

- Heart Strain. Holding excess fluid in the body puts strain on the heart and increases the risk of complications such as left ventricular hypertrophy (enlarged left heart chamber), which can cause heart failure.

- Hyperglycemia. Some CKD patients may develop hyperlipidemia, which is a known risk factor in the development of Heart Problem. (are you are risk of heart problem? Get a Full Evaluation and Personal Second Opinion from Our Expert Group via vedio. Appointment with Expert Group )
